Jon Rahm Creates a History Wins His First and 87th Masters Tournament

Jon Rahm is the champion of the 87th Masters Tournament after firing 12-under par, winning by four strokes. He carded 65-69-73-69=276/-12 in the four rounds.

Intense weather heavily impacted scheduling throughout the weekend at Augusta National, with the main contenders finishing the third round on Sunday morning.

Rahm entered the final day of competition four strokes behind Brooks Koepka and entered the final round at 9-under, two strokes behind through 54-holes.

Rahm birdied the par-4 495-yard fourth hole, bringing him to 10-under par for the event. Koepka bogeyed the fourth and knotted the pair in front.

On six, Rahm saved par on a nifty putt while Koepka bogeyed, catapulting the Sun Devil into the lead.

Momentum continued shifting in Rahm's favour, next on the par-5, 570 yard eighth. He was just short of the green after three strokes,

But fired a majestic swing with his wedge and earned a tap-in birdie. He moved to 11-under for the event including 2-under for the final round, and two strokes ahead of Koepka.

Rahm concluded the first nine holes at 10-under par, one stroke better than Koepka and a resurgent Jordan Spieth, who finished at 8-under just before Rahm reached the green at 10.

Nearing the halfway mark of the back-nine, Rahm created the final separation. He birdied 13 and 14, moving him 12-under and four strokes ahead of Mickelson.
